To keep vehicle downtime to a minimum, CCS charging inlets provide fast charging up to 500kW for all types of electrified vehicles

The mobility shift to electric poses new challenges for automotive manufacturers as well as for the commercial vehicle, passenger transport and transportation industries. Relatively long charging times pose a risk for tightly scheduled logistics and everyday usability.

Phoenix Contact has developed its universally applicable Charx connect CCS charging inlets for a high-power charging interface that shortens the charging times of all electric vehicles. The CCS vehicle charging inlets feature wire cross-sections of up to 95mm2, which provides the charge of electric vehicles permanently at 250kW and temporarily even at higher charging powers of up to 500kW.

This enables the on-board use of high-power charging (HPC) technology for ultrafast charging of electric vehicles of all types. Particularly in commercial use, downtimes must be reduced to a minimum, because only optimal utilization of vehicles leads to efficient and economical use.

Ultra-fast charging with high power currents is provided through universal AC, GB/T, and CCS charging inlets

This means manufacturers and retrofitters of commercial and special vehicles, as well as electrically powered or hybrid passenger cars, motorcycles, and recreational vehicles have access to powerful charging technology components that have been tested according to automotive standards.

With an integrated temperature sensor system, overheating can be prevented at the power contacts and communication of the measurement data to the vehicle, when charging with high currents.

Charx connect inlets are produced to the latest automotive standards

The precise temperature sensor technology enables fast and accurate evaluation of the temperature at the DC power contacts. As a result of this, the requested DC charging current can be dynamically controlled by the vehicle.

Optimized connection technology between the DC power contacts and high-voltage lines additionally minimizes system heating.

The broad portfolio of vehicle charging inlets covers all common charging standards (AC, DC, CCS) for different regions (Type 1, Type 2, GB/T). Customers choose between different cable lengths, cable cross-sections and locking actuators.

This guarantees that it pairs the right vehicle charging inlet for the application. The relevant external dimensions and screw-on geometries of the CCS type 1 and CCS type 2 charging inlets and the AC charging inlets are identical. The benefit of this allows customers to plan the same installation space for every electric vehicle, whether they are buses, cars or motorcycles.
